Zurich, Switzerland

Zurich is by far my favorite European city I have had the chance to stumble upon. Although it was only a one-day stop over on our road trip from France-Holland, we had the most beautiful day! There is something about the city that made me want to live there. Some things I find that make Zurich what it is is the gorgeous architecture and breathtaking mountains surrounding the city center. It was like I was thrown into a place of such positivity as well as activity! From the middle of old town you can walk down to the water where you get a whole new perspective on the city and the people who live in it. Lots of business men, couples, and runners gathering together by the lake on their lunch break, taking a nice walk, or even a jog. Zurich is also an extremely safe city, day or night, which is great when you are traveling alone (especially for young women). The only thing that does make Zurich a less likely travel destination for young travelers, as well as myself, is how expensive it is. Switzerland is one of the wealthiest countries not only in Europe, but in the entire world. While it makes for a very orderly and clean environment... it is never fun to spend € 10 on a trip starbucks!
